3 Ways to Build Your Online Business

There are 3.5 billion Google searches made each and every day. These searches are made by people like you looking for products and services to solve a problem or need they have. 

What makes one business stand out over the other is consistently amazing content that grabs the attention of your target audience through blogging, courses, reviews, and offers no one can resist. 

You should continue to read this blog if you:

  1. Have a product or service to sell
  2. Have already identified your target audience
  3. Ideally (but not necessary) have a website or product landing page

3 WAYS TO BUILD YOUR ONLINE BUSINESS

#1 CREATE AN IRRESISTIBLE OFFER 

Offers are ways to attract a potential customer to your website or landing page to learn more about your product or service and what it can do for them. They are the first touchpoint on the path to purchase and are arguably the most important. 

An offer can be anything that provides immediate value to the reader and leaves them wanting more. 

It can be a worksheet that lays out a weekly meal plan or a checklist of the right ingredients to buy. You could provide them with a cheat sheet on how to use a piece of technology or a calendar to keep them on task. 

Knowing your Ideal Customer Avatar (ICA) is the key to creating an irresistible offer and attracting the ideal client to your business. Speak to them in their language and tailor your offer(s) in a way that provides value and helps them achieve their goals. 

If done correctly, your offer will keep them coming back for more and eventually lead them to the next phase—purchasing your product or service.

#2 BUILD YOUR EMAIL LIST

Repeat after me! I will get my followers off social media and on my list! Now say it again. 

I know you’ve heard it over and over, “You need an email list!” 

Well, what’s stopping you from starting? Is it overwhelm? Time and money constraints? 

It’s time to stop making excuses and start taking action to create an environment where you have your audience all to yourself.

The algorithms on social media continuously change and if you think you’re going to keep up with those changes and get in front of your audience, you’re going to be left in the dust. 

If Facebook or Instagram shuts down tomorrow, how would you reach your audience and continue to provide them your unique value? Seriously think about that. Whether you have 200 or 200K followers, each one of them is a potential customer looking to you for something.

Just as you have a content calendar and system to provide value through your social media, you also need a sequence of emails that continuously engage with your following one-on-one and make them feel as though you’re serving up content specifically for them and right to their inbox.

#3 CREATE AN EVERGREEN COURSE

Evergreen, digital courses can build revenue, free up your time, and allow you to reach more people. 

They allow you to package your unique product or service and make them available when your audience wants them, where they want them, and how they want to consume them. 

That’s right…if done correctly, a digital course can even sell a physical product. The key is solving a problem and providing value to the people you serve. 

You may be saying to yourself, “Sarah, I have no idea what evergreen means and how can I turn my BBQ sauce into a digital course?” 

Trust me, you can! 

Let’s first start with the basics. Simply put, “evergreen” means taking your content and allowing it to continuously provide value to new or repeat customers. It’s the same content, sold for the same cost and delivered directly to the user and provides value. 

Back to the BBQ sauce. 

Let’s say you created a course on how to use YOUR unique BBQ sauce to create a month’s worth of amazingly simple and delicious recipes that’s sure to delight even the pickiest of eaters. 

The catch is, no other BBQ sauce on the market has the versatility yours does. While the reader can use other BBQ sauces, they won’t get the same results as they would by using YOUR BBQ sauce. 

There you have it! You can create courses to sell a service (easy recipes everyone will love) AND upsell your product too!
